Giving Families and Communities a Sporting Chance

Giving Families and Communities a Sporting Chance

Our league provides the opportunity to any child who would like to play. Although a deposit of $30 will be assessed upon registration, this fee is only meant to ensure participation. If the athlete earns at least an 85% participation rate, $30 will be returned at the end of the season. If a child cannot afford the initial fee, he or she may apply for a merit-based scholarship.

In lieu of a fee, each child will be required to perform volunteer service, such as maintaining the playing fields, community clean up, and visiting local children hospitals and senior facilities. This service teaches players the importance of giving back to the community. Finally, each child will be required to complete academic projects, such as read book reports, and we provide tutorial assistance to any child who needs the support to achieve this important goal.

In addition to nurturing a love for the game and raising caring, responsible citizens, USL has a unique competitive advantage compared to other urban city programs – our coach’s training program, which emphasizes fundamentals and requires all coaches to achieve 100% proficiency before being allowed to lead a team. Also, each coach attends an annual clinic and completes computer-based training for each age group. All USL volunteers and coaches are required to pass a required background check.
